Having WiFi is about as important as keeping the lights on these days. That’s why we’ve put together some things you need to know to get everything sorted when it comes to broadband before you move.
How much notice do you need to give to your provider?
If you’re staying with the same provider and plan most will want at least a week notice but ideally get onto it a month in advance to ensure you won’t be left having to wait to catch up on all your shows after the moving stress is over.
Make things easier on yourself: you can use MoovMe to let your provider know you’re moving and the date you want the broadband disconnected at your old place and reconnected at your new one. And why not get all your provides sorted at the same time?
How long does it take to get connected at your new place?
Switching to an existing connection or a new DSL connection only takes about 5-15 days depending on the provider. Setting up a non-existing fibre connection, however, can take between 1-3 months.
Can I switch to a faster broadband connection?
Your new address may have a faster broadband connection available, like Fiber, so it might be worth switching your plan when you move. But remember: setting up a new Fiber connection can take some time so if you just can’t wait to stream all your favourite shows at super speed at your new place, so get onto it early!
Moving soon and don’t have enough time to switch to fibre by the time you move in? No problem. You can get a temporary DSL connection while your fibre is getting set up!
